Charly Lynn Warters

How do you describe such a beautiful soul? She was certainly beautiful on the outside. But her looks could not compare to how breathtaking her soul was. She was sassy and quick witted. She had the biggest heart of anyone I know, except maybe her daddy. Then again she was a self-described “Daddy’s Girl” She shared his love for Muscle Cars, Tattoos and Knife collecting. She would say the smell of Nitro was her favorite scent. Charly was very close to her Mom and they shared their love of Jesus and Music. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She and her sister Angie were the best of friends and they would often call themselves a small gang. They always had each other’s backs. They worked side by side in the family business. Charly was an Old Soul who marched to the beat of her own drum. When she was young she would see an unpopular kid or someone considered an outcast and would go out of her way to be their friend. She always tried to help the homeless or the poor. If you were in her orbit and she knew you had a need she would be the first to drop off what you needed at your door or send it anonymously from Amazon, even if it meant she would have to make sacrifices. She would spend hours hand writing notes and putting them together in decorative ways for your Birthday or other occasions. She never gave a generic gift. It was always something she thought of weeks or months ahead of time.
But what Charly was best at was being a Mom. Tori was her whole world. She spent her short time as a Mom doing everything she could to make sure Tori was happy and felt loved. She took millions of pictures of her and would often say “Isn’t she Great? I made that!”
Charly was married for 17 years. Her marriage was never quite right. No one could put their finger on what was wrong but she was always walking on eggshells and trying to make him happy. He had to have everything his way and she was careful not to upset him. He had to have control of everything. He never shared money responsibilities with her when it came to Tori. She would not ask for his help for extracurricular activities, but would save and pay for those things herself. She was really a single mom way before they separated. She never felt like she had any freedom. He would spy on her even when she was in the restroom. Her marriage was not the abuse most would think of with black eyes and bruises. It was mind control. Manipulation. Slow little paper cuts day after day, year after year until she started to believe it was normal. She would read self-help books because he would make her think she was the one broken. She had tried to leave him once and he manipulated her back. Then a couple of years later in June 2020 he approached her with separation papers. He said he was not happy and wanted to leave. She agreed to all his demands including no child support. He left without incident joined a dating site and moved on. It took her a few weeks to come to terms with the end of her marriage. But then she began to blossom. She was like a beautiful flower that had been starved of water and now was bright and full of life once again. She was the happiest we had seen her in years. 17 to be exact. The weekend of her death while he had visitation with their 14 year old daughter he decided her happiness was not part of his plan. He had lost control.
They say the most dangerous time for a Victim of Domestic Violence is when the abuser realizes he is losing control. On September 20th 2020 her estranged husband brought their daughter home from her weekend visit. Without provocation or warning he brutally murdered Charly by shooting her multiple times in the head, witnessed by their daughter. Charly’s father who lived next door happened to be outside and witnessed the horrific incident as well. When he yelled out and began to run over, Kevin Vebber fled the scene like the coward that he is, leaving the tragedy for his daughter and Charly’s parents to deal with. He was apprehended and has been charged with Capital First Degree Murder and awaits Trial.

EDIT: November 1st 2023 the murderer was convicted to life without parole
