Phillip Zachary Silva, “Philly”, aged 2 and half years, of Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood, passed away after a lifelong battle with Sandhoff Disease.
Rare is real. Sandhoff disease is a rare lysosomal storage disease where the absence of two vital enzymes called beta-hexosaminidase A (HexA) and beta-hexosaminidase B (HexB) causes fatty substances to build up in the nerve cells, which damages the brain and spinal cord.
Philly was a very gentle child who loved when Mommy and Daddy sang to him. Philly would light up when others were around.
Live and love to the fullest for sweet Philly!
