Norma Jean (Van Wyngarden) Langenwalter passed on 3 June 2022 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born 4 October 1933 in Pocahontas county to Herbert John Van Wyngarden and Eleanor Irene (Eileen) (Nelson) Van Wyngarden. Norma worked as a seamstress for Gayle Moline for many years, was Chairwoman of the Woman’s Group at St. Paul’s in Manson, and was the first woman church council member at St. Paul’s. She loved sewing, gardening, cooking & baking (especially her signature sweet rye bread), hosting family gatherings, helping others, traveling for quilting with her sewing friends. She created enough unique & colorful quilts to gift each family member with several. Norma was preceded in death by parents Herb & Eileen, son Allen, daughter Nancy, surrogate son Masahiro Kuroda, stepmother Mardella Van Wyngarden, great grandson Allen Michael, and great granddaughter Faith. Norma is survived by sons Duane (w. Maureen), Brian (w. Dixie), Scott (w. Dawn), sisters Janet (h. Larry) Stoltzfus & Roberta (h. Ben) Juarez and many grand and great grandchildren… and her special cousin, friend and classmate Doris Strutzenberg. She was very proud of her family and loved them very much.
Nancy Jean Seavert, 55, of Manson passed away peacefully October 1st in her home surrounded by her girls and family after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Nancy was born June 29th, 1966 in Manson where she has lived most of her life. She attended Manson High School and went to Spencer College of Business. She met Douglas while in college, and they were married November 28th, 1986. They moved a couple times before landing back in Manson to raise their three children. Nancy had a passion for helping her family and community and never did anything halfway. She loved her job of 24 years with Calhoun County Public Health, where she held several roles revolving around caring for others. Her priority outside of work was being a Grandma. She also loved to craft and do projects of all kinds, and especially loved spending time with her close friends, playing cards, and taking trips to the casino. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Kari (Tom) Ellis of Rockwell City, Allie (Michael) McFarlane of Urbana, IA, and son James Seavert of Carroll; grandchildren Hope, Tommy, Rylee, and Evan; mother Norma Langenwalter; brothers Duane, Brian, and Scott Langenwalter, and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas, father Elmon Langenwalter, brother Allen Langenwalter, sister-in-law Darlene Zinnel, and granddaughter Faith Jean Ellis.
Douglas Lee Seavert, 62 of Manson passed away peacefully at his home April 28th surrounded by his girls after a 4 year battle with cancer.
Doug was born to James A and DonnaBelle (Stark) Seavert on April 16, 1958 in Spencer, IA. He married Nancy Langenwalter on November 28, 1985 in Manson, IA. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, IA, Reeds Spring, MO, Rossie, IA, and finally settled in Manson. Doug had a huge love for farming and held various farming and livestock operation jobs, owning a pig operation and hauling pigs for Miller Trucking until cancer treatments prevented him from working in 2017. Doug had a huge heart and an immense love for family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Dougs family includes his wife, Nancy of Manson, daughters Kari (Tom) Ellis of Rockwell City and Allie (Michael) McFarlane of Urbana, IA, son James Seavert of Carroll, and grandchildren Evan, Hope, and Tommy. Doug is also survived by his Mother, DonnaBelle Seavert of Royal, IA, brothers Dale (Patricia) Seavert of Becker, MN, Danny (Claudia) Seavert of Royal, IA, sister, Darlene (Steve) Zinnel of Swea City, IA, several nieces and nephews, and many others who loved him dearly, including his very dedicated Mother-in-law, Norma Langenwalter of Manson. He is preceded in death by father James Seavert and granddaughter Faith Jean Ellis.
