Norma Jean (Van Wyngarden) Langenwalter passed on 3 June 2022 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born 4 October 1933 in Pocahontas county to Herbert John Van Wyngarden and Eleanor Irene (Eileen) (Nelson) Van Wyngarden. Norma worked as a seamstress for Gayle Moline for many years, was Chairwoman of the Woman’s Group at St. Paul’s in Manson, and was the first woman church council member at St. Paul’s. She loved sewing, gardening, cooking & baking (especially her signature sweet rye bread), hosting family gatherings, helping others, traveling for quilting with her sewing friends. She created enough unique & colorful quilts to gift each family member with several. Norma was preceded in death by parents Herb & Eileen, son Allen, daughter Nancy, surrogate son Masahiro Kuroda, stepmother Mardella Van Wyngarden, great grandson Allen Michael, and great granddaughter Faith. Norma is survived by sons Duane (w. Maureen), Brian (w. Dixie), Scott (w. Dawn), sisters Janet (h. Larry) Stoltzfus & Roberta (h. Ben) Juarez and many grand and great grandchildren… and her special cousin, friend and classmate Doris Strutzenberg.
She was very proud of her family and loved them very much.
